Retool Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Retool Community Forum! :hammer_and_wrench:

We're thrilled to have you here, and we want to make sure our space is a hub of collaboration, fun, and helpfulness. Here are some quick guidelines to make sure you can find what you’re looking for.

Who the Community is For :star2:

This forum is for everyone, whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting started. We believe in the power of community, and what better way to showcase it than by helping each other out?

If you see a post where you think you can offer insights, share experiences, or just sprinkle a bit of encouragement, don't be shy – drop a comment! You’ll even earn ToolTips and maybe even some swag (sometimes offered during one of our Challenges :eyes:).

What Should Be Posted :open_book:

Feel free to share your wins, ask questions, and show off your coolest Retool creations. We welcome bug reports, feature requests, help-I’m-stuck-and-don’t-know-what-to-do and any Retool-related question or discussion you can think of.

What Shouldn’t Be Posted :no_entry_sign:

No spam and no hate speech. Keep it relevant and respectful!

Help us help you :handshake:

  • Screenshots, and more screenshots: A picture is worth a thousand words, especially when it comes to solving problems. Screen recordings are also much appreciated!
  • Share Error Messages: Whether it's a Retool error or a console message (ideally both!), those error messages can help us track down the source of your problems.
  • Mark solutions as solutions :white_check_mark:: This helps us keep our forums relevant and helps signal to other users that the post has a solution that could help them too! It also rewards the solution-giver by giving them 10 ToolTips per solution!

What Each Category is For :card_index_dividers:

We've organized things so you can find what you need in a snap:

  • Retool Tips and Tricks for learning how to do specific things in Retool directly from our team
  • App Building for troubleshooting, questions, and bugs related to building Retool apps
  • Queries and Resources for troubleshooting, questions, and bugs related to coding in Retool
  • Self Hosted Retool for self-serve or enterprise related questions/issues
  • Feature Requests to talk about what you'd like to see in the Retool product
  • Community Show and Tell to share and learn about what others are building
  • Mobile for Retool Mobile specific questions and troubleshooting
  • Workflows for questions and debugging Retool Workflows
  • External Apps for questions on Retool Embed or Portals, use cases beyond internal tools
  • Account and User Management Great place to ask about account issues, inviting/removing users, pricing, permissions, etc
  • Discussion for general conversations. This could be a great place to get app/design feedback, seek out ideas for a specific use case or new Retool feature—anything you're interested in collaborating on
  • Announcements to hear announcements from the Retool team

Timeframe for Expected Responses :alarm_clock:

We're a bustling community, and responses vary, but every post will be put in our queue to review and help move forward as soon as we can.

Lots of posts may be solved by a volunteer Retool expert from within this community! The Retool Community Engineering team reviews all posts and chimes in when we can, roughly in chronological order, with an emphasis on topics that only someone from Retool could answer, or bug reports with widespread or acute impact on customers. Tagging individual Community Support Engineers will not necessarily speed up response time, as we'd like to respect other community members' topics in our intake process.

When Do Posts Get Closed? :lock:

Posts might be automatically or manually closed if they've been solved or if they’re about features from the olden days. Don't worry; it's just a digital clean-up. Your questions and contributions are still cherished and we can always reference back!

Questions?

You’re in the perfect place! Leave us a question in a relevant category and we’ll talk to you soon!

Thank you for being here.
