Version of Retool (if self-hosted): 3.52.3-stable
Hello, I just bought the Team license and, surprise surprise, I found out it's completely useless for what I need. After reading through the forums, I see I'm not alone in this frustration, which is quite irritating.
To be honest, when purchasing the license, the options didn't make it clear there was any difference between the Team and Business licenses, as shown in the picture below. For our project, we needed 3 "users that make edits to apps or workflows" and 3 "users that don’t make edits," just to get started.
However, it turns out all users can modify the app. According to this link (Permission groups and access rules | Retool Docs), the Team license doesn't allow for the differentiation we need. This wasn't clearly communicated when buying the license.
I've read that Retool is reconsidering this, but may I suggest being clearer on the website when detailing license purchases? Unfortunately, this doesn't leave a great first impression, and I'm quite disappointed.
On behalf of the Retool team, I would like to apologize for any confusion surrounding the plans levels.
We take our customer satisfaction very seriously and I will make sure that we update these plan tier descriptions to better articulate the difference between the Team plan and the Business plan.
I completely agree, having the tool tips for the different plan levels read very similarly is not ideal for properly conveying that on Team level all users are able to edit an app, which then categorizes the editing user as a "Standard User".
We will be sure to add in explicit detailing that the Business plan allows for greater level of granular permissions for controlling which user are able to edit apps and how admins can limit editing permissions.
Thank you for this feedback as we are always looking to improve and let me know if there us any other feedback you have or questions that I can answer for you
