A new version of the Alert component is now available. It is a significant upgrade over the previous version, with new options to customize alert messaging.
You can create custom alert states that represent different alert types or severity, and configure them with the following options:
Title and description.
Icon, icon position, and tooltip.
Action text to trigger event handlers on click.
The new Alert component is currently rolling out on Retool Cloud and will be available in a subsequent release of Self-hosted Retool. Existing apps can continue to use the previous version, which is now deprecated.
Thank you for this component. I very much like that we can now handle multiple alert states.
One question though – and I am probably too dumb to find this – but where do I define the alert level of my custom alert states? Any new state I add is shown as an info level alert.
Hi @ostollmann! Thank you for your question - I'm happy to help out as best I can!
You're correct, whenever you create a "new state" within the Alert, you'll notice that its styling default is the same as Info. This was intentional because we felt like Info's designs are generic enough to represent our default state.
If you wish to make a new state look like one of our other presets, you'll have to manually change its styling within the state's Styles Section!
