Developing a recommendation app in Retool using Elasticsearch as the filtering model

Hi! I'm looking for a beginner-friendly tutorial for a non-tech person to help build a simple internal app in Retool that generates book recommendations based on user input. The app will use Elasticsearch and book metadata stored in a Retool database. It doesn't need to be overly complex, as I mainly want to test the results of the recommendation model. I've already set up the integration with our Elasticsearch instance—just need some guidance on getting started in Retool. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi @Gwena_Jaouen,

What an interesting project!

I'd recommend the following:

  1. Retool recently launched its own university. I can't say anything about the content as I haven't had the time to go through them, but I'm hoping they are beginner-friendly
  2. I've done some beginners tutorials in this youTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@LearnRetool-qn9dy which may help you get familiar with the most important components you'll be using.

In general the forum is a good place to ask your questions and struggles, I'm sure you will get the answers you need here.

Good luck!
