VScode 2fa challenge

Hi Retool(ers),

I've just activated the edit in VS Code (beta) option but ran very quickly into an issue with 2fa. On connecting to Retool, VS Code prompts me for a 2fa code which, having a Passkey in place for Retool sign-in via my phone, I can't generate as you would with with say Google Authenticator.

Am I missing a step here, or do I need to switch from a Passkey to a less secure authenticator set-up to use VS code? Can't see anything in the docs or search re limitations etc.

Thanks

  • Switch to a temporary OTP-based 2FA: This might be the quickest solution. You can use an app like Google Authenticator to set up a temporary OTP for Retool login. Remember to switch back to your Passkey after you're done editing in VS Code.
  • Wait for Passkey support in VS Code edit: Retool might be working on adding Passkey support for the VS Code edit feature. You can keep an eye on their documentation or community forums for updates.
