Variable Input Field too small, needs more height

I have always wondered why the variable input box is so small, what is the reason for this cap?

As seen here...

There is sooo much room for the input box, why not increase that for us?

I poked at the CSS a little:

Thoughts?

Edit: I have used transformers as "variables" just because they both use .value to access and transformers have the full code editor, not just a tiny box.

Thanks for pointing this out @khill-fbmc. This seems like it would be a small improvement that would remove some product friction. I've created a request to increase this. Thanks for sharing your work around!
