Unable to view query output

One of my apps has stopped displaying output for all queries in the sidebar. It gives the error "Query run failed" although I can see in the console that it actually ran successfully, and everything in the app is still functioning fine.

Hi @AprilV, thanks so much for patiently waiting! Did you happen to migrate any apps from modules to a multipage structure right before this started happening?

No I didn’t

Hello again @AprilV, thanks for waiting patiently! Since the query runs and the app works, it sounds like this might be a UI bug in the query output panel or sidebar. Can you try doing a hard refresh, clearing your browser cache, or testing in another incognito window to rule out any caching issues? Also, are you still seeing this issue over the past few weeks?

Yes, I am still seeing this issue. I don’t believe it is a caching issue, as it occurs on every browser and device I’ve tried, including in incognito.

Hey @AprilV, got it, a few quick clarifications!

  1. Are you on Retool Cloud or self hosted? If self hosted, which version are you running?
  2. You mentioned one app has stopped showing query output in the sidebar while your other apps are fine. Can you confirm that the others still display results? What is different about this specific app compared to the ones that work?
  3. Would you be able to record a short Loom video showing the issue? That would be super helpful when I file the bug.
  1. Retool Cloud
  2. Yes, all other apps are fine. I can’t think of any major difference between this one and the rest.
  3. Here is a link to the screen recording: Page 1 | Haul Slip Review | Editor | Retool - 5 November 2025 | Loom

Hey @AprilV, thanks so much for your report and the Loom video! We took a look and could not find anything obvious with the information we have so far. When you are able to reproduce this behavior again, could you please grab an x-request-id from your browser inspector and also export a HAR file for that session and send them over? Thank you! :folded_hands:

I sent you a message!

Hey @AprilV, thanks again for sending over the HAR file. We took a look on our end and the query is completing and returning data as expected. It looks like the UI is still showing the banner even though the query succeeds. Since you mentioned this only happens in one specific app, it would be helpful to rule out any app level corruption.

When you get a chance, could you duplicate the app and see if the behavior persists in the copied version? Let me know what you find! :+1:t3:

I duplicated the app and I’m seeing the same thing in the copy. “Query run failed” and no visible output, even though the query is completing.

Hey @AprilV, I see, thanks for reporting back! I don’t think I’ve requested this yet, but can you send the JSON of that app here or in my DM?

Sure, it’s too large to attach here but I emailed you!

I got it, thank you, let me take a look! @AprilV

Hey @AprilV, thanks so much for your patience through all of this. I wasn’t able to figure it out on my end either, so I’ve gone ahead and submitted this as a bug to the engineering team. I’m suspecting this might be a UI issue. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I hear anything back!
