It does work as expected with keyboard entry, but does not grow if the value comes from default
Also 90% sure it doesn't grow if value comes from JS .setValue()

I'm seeing what you described on Retool Cloud as of today and have reported this bug to our Engineering team. I don't have an ETA for you at the moment, but I'll be sure to update this post upon release of a fix!
