Currently, the Retool Mobile app only exposes the public release version to end users. As an admin/builder, I’d love the ability to select and run a non-public release directly within the mobile app.
Why this matters:
- Debugging in desktop “user mode” doesn’t always reflect how the app behaves on an actual mobile device.
- Being able to test the intended release in the real environment (the device form factor, mobile OS quirks, etc.) would give admins much more confidence before pushing to public.
- This is especially critical for workflows that are mobile-first—where a bug missed in desktop testing can have outsized impact once it’s live.
Proposal:
Give admins/developers a way to toggle or select a non-public release within the mobile app, similar to how we can choose a release on desktop. It would function as a “pre-flight check” before promoting to public.
I think this feature would go a long way in bridging the gap between building and shipping reliable mobile apps with Retool.
