Sporadic Reconnections

Is anyone else getting sporadic reconnection notices a couple of times an hour? The screen will go white while the browser is reconnecting, but you can still see text as you type in the background. Both of us developers are seeing the same thing. We both use the Edge browser. Haven't tried any other browser yet.

Yes, I started noticing it about a week ago. It says “Connecting…” and the screen turns white. I also just noticed it on the presenters screen on a live Retool webinar that I’m watching. I would like to know what’s going on that causes this. Using chrome.

Hello @Bman040, welcome back to the community forum!

The “Connecting…” toast you’re seeing is your Retool client reestablishing a connection to the Multiplayer service, which it’s using to improve the reliability of app saves. I’ve raised your comments to an internal thread where we’re discussing how to best implement this to be less disruptive to users, and I’ll post any updates here.

Thanks for the update. I’m the only developer in our organization, is there a setting somewhere to turn off multiplayer?

This has been happening for us recently too and it’s very annoying.

We never use Multiplayer, and would also like to be able to turn it off.

Retool - please turn this off - this is getting very annoying!

Updoot. This is super rough, happening once every 10 mins or so. Also not a multiplayer user. Eagerly awaiting a fix!

not sure if it’s related, but i’m also noticing that sometimes my entire edit view of an app becomes entirely unresponsive; i can’t click on anything.

so far i’ve only experienced this when coming back to a tab after it was unfocused for a bit. not happening on any other sites/web apps, and never used to happen to me in Retool.

and it’s not like the page itself is hanging/crashing, at least not in Chrome and not with the standard “page unresponsive; do you want want wait or kill the tab?” browser dialog.

haven’t seen anything else yet in the forums, but just noting here in case others see a correlation.

Same here. Sometimes it's just locked up and you have to click refresh and then you have to get back into where you were at. Hope someone is looking at this.
