Retool won't let me login on Android 7

Hello you lot

Retool isn't letting me login using Android 7

Here's a video to show what happens when I try

Hi @desbest, could we try deleting the app and resinstalling it on the device?

It still doesn't work except I get an additional error, instead of just one.

Thanks for testing the reinstallation.

  • What type of device is this?
  • Is this device connected to a VPN or within a VPC?

Samsung Galaxy S7. You can check the specifications here.

The android version is below.

I get the same error whether I use mobile Internet or WiFi.

Thank you for sharing those details!
We've raised this issue internally. In the meantime, is this happening with only one device, or do we have other S7 devices where this is also happening?

Sorry I don't have any other Samsung Galaxy S7 phones to check with.

No worries! Is hostingzaccent the subdomain of the Retool organization you are part of?

Yes it is, I mean I run it.

Thank you! Did this issue first occur 8 days ago (when you created this topic)?

I've been having this issue for months, I think around 6-9 months. I didn't experience it two years ago.

It could be due to the version of the operating system. Before we consider upgrading, let's try one more option:

We just enabled a feature for your organization. It should now redirect you to your web browser when you click Log in, instead of making the request directly from the app.

Please let us know if you are able to log in after closing the app and reopening it.

I've tried that and it doesn't work, even with Google Chrome as my default web browser.

Below is the image sequence of what I see.

  • Does the first error appear when you open the Retool app or after pressing the login button?
  • When you enter your credentials on the browser (3rd screenshot), it looks like you are getting redirected back to the app but without an error, correct?
  1. The first one
  2. Yes I don't see any errors but it still won't let me login

It doesn't matter what web browser I use

  • Google Chrome
  • Firefox
  • XBrowser

The result is the same.

See this video for details.

Thank you for sharing the new screen recording. With host settings set to Retool Cloud, I'm surprised it shows your subdomain as the host it's trying to contact. Could you access Host settings, change the Host type to On Premise, and see if there are any settings for Host? If there are, remove them (clear the input) and try again.

I've tried that now and it won't connect to the host name before even clicking the login button, just seeing the login form.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Remove cloud.retool.com from Host, then change the Host type to Retool Cloud. Try logging in after that.

I still get the same errors

Could you upgrade your device to Android 8?

It looks like this should be possible on the S7 (Source).
