I have seen mixed communications on whether the ability to push error logs to Datadog requires an Enterprise license for self-hosted instances of Retool. The documentation here only indicates that this feature requires the Enterprise plan if you are using Retool Cloud. Can I get an official ruling?
Until Retool gets back to you, one of the ways to configure DataDog requires API access to an enterprise only endpoint so I think you can safely assume it's a general requirement for observability. That's def confusing though.
You're right @bobthebear. I have set up the DD API as a resource but I would use that for shipping custom alerts from my apps and workflows. My hope is that instance logging could be ported to DD like the rest of my infrastructure.
I'm not using self-hosted and I tend to be rather bad at this kind of stuff, but if you have access to the server running Retool I think you could install and configure the Datadog Agent on the same server to watch the Retool docker containers using Autodiscovery.... I think the errors from workflows and stuff would still bubble up?
Good thinking. I'll be implementing that as well to ensure coverage but I'm curious what the difference will be between the integration and just the DD server agent.
Hi @roundingwill, welcome back to the forum, it’s been a while! Thanks for pointing this out, you’re right that the docs are confusing. I’ve already requested an update to avoid future confusion. To clarify, this feature is currently gated to Enterprise plans only, including for self-hosted deployments.
Thanks for the ruling @ChiEn
@JoeyKarczewski You’re right, the mobile doc can be confusing as well. I’ve added this to the ticket to be updated, thank you!
Haha, that's funny, thank you I will definitely keep you updated when we made an official change on the docs!
Would this be the right time to request the emoji be added to the Reaction list?
