ModalFrames and DrawerFrames should be "copyable"

Hi,

As a report creator it’d be great if I could copy and paste ModalFrames and DrawerFrames, including their content.

At the moment I have to create a new Frame and then copy/paste the content one by one.

Thanks!

Hey @dakes ,

This feature request for duplicating Modal and Drawer Frames is already being tracked here:

The Retool team has already created an internal ticket for it, and several community members have added their support with +1s on the feature request.

At the moment, there has not been any recent update or timeline shared by the Retool team regarding its implementation.

@Jack_T , @Tess , @ChiEn , @Darren — would it be possible to provide any updates on the status of this feature request?

Hey @WidleStudioLLP thanks for the research and nudge, @dakes we're continuing to maintain the classic app builder, and while new component features aren't in our immediate roadmap, this feedback helps us prioritize what matters most to our users. I've added a +1 on the internal ticket!

In the meantime, it may be worth converting your classic apps to the new app builder if you haven't already. Modals and drawers are standard React components there, so instead of recreating frames manually, you can simply prompt (e.g. "create another drawer that looks like this one but does X") or edit the component directly in the Code tab, either way, no more copying content one by one. We would be happy to walk you through the conversion process and answer any questions during Office Hours!
