I have a modal that pops up and I'd like the background to dim out. Can this be done?

We don't have this feature yet, but I bumped the internal feature request for this!
In the meantime, you may be able to do something with custom css.
Hello all, coming back with the latest update, the Legacy Modal component is now deprecated. The current version is now called Modal Frame! 
For making the Modal Frame background go dim, go to the Inspector, then Appearance, and turn on "Show overlay".
