External App User - After user invite are taken to a retool building page

Hi,

I am on the business plan and have created an external app. I have set the landing page for external users to be my external app. However, when an user invite link is sent to an external user, it opens them into a retool building page which is very confusing and you can’t seem to get out of it.

I obviously do not want any external users to be taken this page and instead once they have signed up, they should just be taken to my landing page. Does anyone have a solution?

Welcome to the community! I have a few questions based on the behavior the external users you are inviting are experiencing:

  • Is your external app a Classic app or was it built in the new app builder? Landing pages currently only work with classic apps. If you built it in the new app builder, landing pages aren't yet supported. This is listed as a current limitation here: Enable and configure apps for external users | Retool Docs
  • If that’s not the case, do your external users that you’ve invited have any Edit or Own permissions at all based on the permissions that are granted when you’ve invited them?
  • Is the App you want External Users to be redirected to located on the External Apps page under Settings?
