Build Mode Not Syncing with Assist AI - Blocking All Development Work

Hi Retool Community,
I'm experiencing a critical issue with Assist AI that's completely blocking my development work, and I'm wondering if others are seeing this too.
Problem:
When I select "Build" mode in the Assist dropdown, it displays "Build" on my screen, but the AI continues to receive "Ask mode" signals and refuses to execute any build operations.
Error Message:
"This tool requires Build mode to execute, but the agent is currently in Ask mode."
What I've Tried:
Switched between Ask/Build modes multiple times
Refreshed browser completely
Tried different browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox)
Closed and reopened Assist panel
Cleared cache and cookies
Restarted computer
None of these resolve the issue.
Impact:
I cannot use Assist AI to build queries, create components, export data, or do any development work. The AI assistance is completely non-functional for building operations.
Support Response:
I contacted support@retool.com but received an automated response saying they're closed until mid-January due to holidays and company offsite. No technical help available for nearly 3 weeks.
Questions:
Is anyone else experiencing this Build mode sync issue?
Is there a known workaround?
Is this a platform-wide bug or account-specific?
This is urgent for my business - I have critical work to complete over the holiday period and can't wait until January 12 for support to resume.

Could you please try creating a new Assist tab (the + icon at the top level header bar)? We’re still actively investigating, but it seems that this may be a rare instance where the current Assist tab may have been corrupted.

Hi Raymond. Thanks for your quick response. I followed your advice and opened a new chat. yes it worked. I was able to get confirmation from Build that it was functional. As this is a new feature maybe these trouble shooting solutions could a part of Ask’s knowledge base, because Ask was aware that Build was unresponsive, and helpful to get me to the forum for solutions. Anyway you help is much appreciated. Thanks and have a great Holiday!

Thanks Tanner. I got a suggestion from Raymond and it seemed to work. I’m in Dubai, which is +12 hours from SF, so I will resume work tomorrow morning and report back is there are any further issues. If we don’t connect, have a very happy holiday & best wishes for the new year.
