Beta Release: Introducing a Brand New Chart Component

Have you ever struggled to make charts in Retool because Plotly JSON was so hard to use? Have you ever banged your head on the wall wishing the existing Chart component had better integrations with Theming? Have you ever wished our current Chart component had more default chart types?

Well if so, this announcement is for you. I'm super excited to announce that Retool is rolling out a :sparkles: brand new :sparkles: Chart component, and we'd love for you to test it out!

The new component features a completely transformed GUI editor, 10 new chart type presets, greater performance, integration with Theming, and so much more.

If you would like access to the new Chart component, please fill out this form. We will then enable the feature flag for your organization—which will allow you to start building with v2 Charts—and add you to a Beta testers group on this forum (where you can ask questions and report bugs). Enabling this flag will not affect your existing apps/charts.

Here are some docs with more info!

UPDATE: Charts v2 are enabled for all organizations on cloud! No action is required on your part to enable the feature.

Cheers,
Francis

Hello @francis12,

:tada: Thanks for always rolling out exciting new features that push us as developers to think on the next level and experiment more with Retool! :raised_hands:

I’ve filled out the form to get access and can’t wait to test the beta charts. While Plotly works great for us as developers, we’ve seen non-developers struggle with customization. The new GUI editor and default chart types will be a big win for them. :tada:

Looking forward to seeing :eyes: how these updates improve workflows for the whole team, and we’ll share feedback once we dive in! :rocket:

I'm very happy to hear this news, to be honest using Plotly JSON is a bit complex and I've never managed to develop interesting UI graphics. I've already signed up so I can have access to the new graphics and give you feedback on them.

I swear - working with Retool is like having access to a genie that grants wishes without you even asking.

I had this need last night and woke up to a new feature. If this is a dream I’m going to be super annoyed

Hey everyone!

We plan to enable the new beta component when 3.105 is released on Tuesday, October 15!

Love the new charts and how easy it is to use! A really fantastic update! One thing i would love to see is a gauge chart out of the box. With some sales / financial budgets apps, this is a very common one i have used.

The timing couldn't be better - I just wanted to recreate our statistic dashboard with more detailed statistics, and I rather try it on the new beta components.
I signed up but didn't get access yet

Hmm, was this enabled with 3.105. I did submit the form but have yet to see the component available to me on cloud.

Just filled out the form too - would love to try this out. Was just battling with some plotly charts today and would love an alternative approach!

Hey!
Incredible, complete game changer for us.
Is there any way to access it as a beta on self-hosted?

Hi,

When will the next round of enablements off the back of the form submission take place?

Very eager to use because some of the new charts will save me pulling my hair out.

Thanks

For @Laurin_Boujon1, @dug, and anybody else running a self-hosted instance, this beta will become available with the release of the edge-3.105 version!

Greetings,

The SankeyChart component doesn't seem to be responsive to any datasource change since this morning.
