A Slice of Gratitude and Raspberry Pie 🥧

Thanksgiving feels like the perfect time to share a story that’s become a Retool favorite—a reminder of why we’re so thankful for this amazing community.

Last year, during our November Challenge, something magical happened in Office Hours. While chatting, @bradlymathews casually mentioned his Grandma Zada’s legendary raspberry sour cream pie. (Yes, it sounded as amazing as it turned out to be!) Later, he shared the recipe in the forum, sparking even more excitement:

Of course, we had to try it. So we baked two pies for Retool’s holiday party. They vanished faster than a bug fix in production! One teammate even declared:

But more than the pie, this moment reminded us of the generosity and connection that define our community.

Brad, thank you again! Your family’s pie is now part of Retool lore—a small moment that created meaningful connections.
To everyone else—whether you’re joining Office Hours, testing features, or sharing your own stories—you make Retool better every day. This Thanksgiving, we’re reminded how lucky we are to have a community like this. :yellow_heart:

Love the Retool Lore. Wish I had the chance to try this pie -we may need to make it again!

I'm obsessed with this Mandy Lee recipe on pan fried chicken. Highly recommend trying it out for those who like to cook!

But, if you want something ready to eat, try the Trader Joe's Thanksgiving Stuffing Chips :exploding_head:.

Thank you @sarahs for sharing the gratitude and pie lore, and @AbbeyHernandez I'll have to try those savory suggestions! Looking forward to learning about other folks’ favorite holiday recipes

My family and I are big dessert fans, especially cookies and pies. So here’s 1 cookie and 1 pie recipe I highly recommend!

:cookie: This Chewy Triple Ginger Cookies recipe -- if you like ginger -- is INCREDIBLE. It's the perfect chewy sugary ginger consistency, made with real fresh ginger, ground ginger, and candied ginger. Maybe enjoy with some Chai, or other warm beverage, or even with some vanilla ice cream  A family member once organized an extensive taste-test of dozens of cookie recipes, and this one quickly rose to the top. It's become a family favorite during the holidays!

:pie: In the pie/crumble category, I adapted this recipe recently from a half baked harvest recipe, and made it 3 times in the past month (once to share with Retool teammates)! You could easily use peaches or other filling depending on what's in season!

Pear-Raspberry or Pear-Strawberry Crumble
Filling

  • 4-5 pears, sliced (about 5 cups)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced) or raspberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon + 1-2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1 cup all purpose flour (or substitute)
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 12 tablespoons cold butter, cubed (or substitute)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Mix filling ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Pour filling into a 9 inch round pie dish or similar.
  • Add topping ingredients to a bowl and use a fork to mix and press the butter into dry ingredients to create a crumbly consistency.
  • Pour topping over the sugary fruit filling.
  • Bake covered with foil for 30 mins, then remove foil and bake for another 30 mins. Let cool and enjoy!

Can't wait to hear about more of your favorite recipes / traditions / fav food during the holidays! Hope everyone has a really nice Thanksgiving if you're celebrating this week here in the US  :fallen_leaf: :pie: :turkey: :
