What Instant Messaging Software Are You Using for Internal Office Communication?

Hey everyone,

We recently switched our office instant messaging software from Dental Link (which kept crashing) to MirrorFly, and I thought I’d share how that’s been going.

We went with the self-hosted version so we could have more control. The setup took a bit of time, but the APIs and SDKs were easy enough to work with. Since then, it’s been stable and does what we need — mainly room-to-room messaging, group chat, and notifications.

Not saying it’s perfect, but it’s been more reliable than what we had before.

Curious what other teams are using for internal messaging — especially if you’ve built or customized your own setup.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience with MirrorFly. That's interesting, especially your point about the easy-to-use APIs and SDKs in the self-hosted version.

My team has been using Slack for years, but mainly because we integrate it heavily with our internal tools built in Retool. We use the Slack API to send notifications from our Retool dashboards or even to trigger actions directly from a Slack bot that communicates with Retool.

Since you mentioned MirrorFly has good APIs, I'm wondering how it compares to Slack specifically for those kinds of integrations. Have you tried connecting any custom tools or dashboards to it?
