Spacing Max Width Resetting

I have been dealing with an issue since Thursday night where the Max width setting seems to reset from 100% to 1200px

Most of my apps use 100% and I have never run into this before. Since Thursday night I have had multiple occasions where the app seems to have updated this setting. In a few apps I have tried to correct it multiple times and it works for a few hours and then goes back to 1200px

Claude recommended I set it to 1000000px which seems to work. I haven’t figured out yet if this is resetting as well.

Is there another place this gets defaulted or is this a bug? Seems weird that I would be the only seeing it. I’m using Retool Cloud

I’ve just now started having an issue where multiple apps are randomly becoming narrow in the viewing space. I check the Spacing > Max width under the App settings and will set it to 2000px or 100%, sometimes it corrects it, other times it doesn’t. When it does resolve the issue, it’ll work for a little bit then randomly reset to 1200px on the width. I’m making edits to the app but nothing on the UI, all code-based changes when the random resizing occurs.

I just changed the width to 100% so will see how long it holds. This has only started occurring since Thursday or Friday last week thru the weekend and now this morning.

Same issue here, and lots of other forum posts too. Nothing too bad, on the UI inspector when you select the main app, it has a max-width property which seems to have defaulted to 1200px. You can change this to 100%. Also, the app theme seems to have reset too, but I have set all mine back to what they were.

Again - no notification from retool about app changing migrations being made, and a slow disappointing response on this forum.

Extra Information

  1. This happens today, if I revert to previous version from 11 days ago (october 2nd) this problem goes away. but returns after a few changes
  2. There’s only sql and js script changes between today and october 2nd, no new component added
  3. I have no custom CSS
  4. Tried on Safari and Firefox
  5. This happens on both old pages and new pages created today
  6. changing Max Width in the app inspector to 100% works temporarily, it resets to 1200px after some time

Its very dificult to create layout of controls ..

Having similar issue, check the page width (below). Ours has been resetting to 1200px every couple of hours and forcing narrow spacing down the center of the screen, when I change to 100% it’ll fix the issue for a few hours until it resets again.

I encountered a problem in the module. There is no width setting here.

We are experiencing the same issue - it also appears as though the text has shrunk.

The App Theme has reset, and the new default has smaller text. You can create a custom theme in your settings, and then apply this.

Thanks, Matt - it was nice to be given notice by retool before they did this, so that we could prepare.

I’ve not created a custom theme before - that’ll be my job for tomorrow.

I appreciate your comment letting me know, so I’m not going mad and getting an appointment at the optician!

hi there - I’ve been using this for a couple months without any issues, but today I opened up one of my apps and the window has shrunk and is cerntered in the middle. It used to take up the entire space – any idea how this happened or how to fix it? I havent changed anything on my end. thanks!

This is happening to us too! Starting last night, the Max Width setting has been removed and added back in my editor multiple times. The value I’ve been able to set has also been reset to 1200px multiple times despite my re-setting it.
