Is there an ETA for when sidebar navigation will be available? While you can use a navigation module placed on the side for different apps, the issue of the entire app refreshing when switching tabs can lead to a very suboptimal user experience. Unfortunately, this approach does not provide a seamless transition between tabs. Any other possible solution ?

I've logged this request internally for the product team's consideration, and it's linked to this thread so that you'll be updated here with any movement or news on its status, plus collect more interest from the community.
I don't have a timeline as to when, but will be in touch when this feature is available.
Until then the navigation module that you mentioned is probably the best workaround here
