Scanner stops working every second scan

  1. My goal:
    To be able to scan and process several QR codes successively without interruption by malfunctions.

  2. Issue:
    on iPhone 16e with iOS 18.5, open opening my mobile app, I can open the scanner and scan a QR and do my thing fine. But when I am done and ready to move on to the next QR code, when I open the scanner, instead of seeing my camera feed, I can only see a black screen. From there I can go back to the screen from which I activated the scanner, but any attempts at opening the scanner give me this black screen until I close and restart the app.

  3. Steps I've taken to troubleshoot:
    Retool Mobile is confirmed up to date
    Problem couldn't be replicated on Android phones. No other iPhone available in our pool to see if it is specific to this unit or if there is more at play here.

Hello @DocShades . I ran into a similar issue before and found it happens when multiple scanners are used in the mobile app. I can see you have one on the check-in page and another on the cash register page. My suggestion is to build both pages into the same screen, then show or hide components based on the user’s preference, This way, the same scanner can be used for both.

Hey, thanks both for flagging this. And welcome to the forum! @Omotoke_Okeyemi2 I tested @DocShades your JSON export on my iPhone app and can reproduce the issue. The second scan shows a black screen.
We have an internal ticket tracking this and I have added a +1 for each of you to help with visibility. I do not have a workaround yet, unfortunately! In the meantime, could you try @Omotoke_Okeyemi2’s suggestion and let us know if it helps? :pray:
