The Recent tab on the homepage is duplicating things. And it is also showing modules that are used inside apps as recent when i haven't gone into them directly. I really prefer the default tab being published. The recent has not been helpful at all to say the least

Hi @PadenM! Thanks for reaching out. We're aware of the duplication issue and are in the process of rolling out a fix. I'll provide an update here as soon as that goes live! 
Thanks also for the feedback on the overall redesign of the home page. We're definitely interested in hearing everybody's thoughts and are open to making adjustments.
UPDATE: The issue causing apps on the "Recent" page to be duplicated has been fixed as of version 3.162.
