When publishing new releases in an app, I was thinking it would be cool to have an option to prompt users to refresh their browser page or somehow automatically update any tab with the app open to the newest published release.
It's somewhat common for end users to keep their retool app open in a tab, and never refresh or re-navigate to the page. So, when we push bug-fixes and new features, those users are still working in the older version of the app. This especially happens when the update is to backend queries/logic and doesn't impact the UI too much but does impact things downstream, such as reporting, etc.
Wondering if this is something other people experience or if anyone has come up with good workarounds beyond just telling end-users to refresh when a new update has been pushed!
Thanks for checking in! We are still tracking feedback on this use case, but, unfortunately, this request is in our backlog. I don't have any updates from our team yet. I will follow up on this thread if it gets prioritized
Hi @avi, thanks for checking in. No updates at the moment but I agree this would be a great feature. I added a plus one for you on the internal ticket!
Please prioritize this. We had an issue that affected many users because they donβt refresh frequently and often keep several records open for easy access. Weβve sent a memo asking them to refresh, but developers donβt always do this, or it gets overlooked by users.
