Pages / Work Disappearing

  • Goal: Multiple users can work on a multi-page app - with multiplayer beta enabled - without pages disappearing

  • Steps / Details: I had made several new pages last night. My colleague logged in this morning and made some changes to other pages. I was going to show her the new pages and talk through them, but the pages I had created were just ... gone. All of them. Luckily I was able to revert using the history (almost the last available one on the list, whew!), which brought those pages back. But none of the history indicated that she'd deleted those pages or anything. It appears that somehow she (or maybe I) had reverted the entire app to a previous state.

I had thought I observed this one time previously, but assumed I had inadvertently done something wrong. But now I think this is a bug of some sort that could have major ramifications for lost work/data.

Is anyone else reporting this? I'll keep an eye out for how I could somehow reproduce this behavior, but in a panic I just reverted without grabbing screenshots that could maybe help troubleshoot.

Not sure if this related in any way, but thought of adding it here if it helps the conversation. When I've seen some of my work is lost, I noticed in the release history there was a migration that happened the moment I logged back in (1 min ago).

After I reverted to changes before the migration I recovered everything.

Hey @eric_engelmann, thanks for reporting this. Couple questions:

  • When you were editing were other editors present on the app?
  • Could your colleague see your new pages when she initially opened the app this morning?

We've been running into some issues with Migrations (as Miguel mentioned) and this seems to be pretty similar. Let me know if you run into it again

  • Ya know, I do remember last night occasionally seeing in the multiplayer icons at the top, that I was in there twice somehow. Sometimes it'd go away and only show one. I'll keep an eye out for that.

Update: it just happened again. She was logged out, while I was editing this morning. Then she logged in, started doing stuff, and my stuff went away. I reverted via history successfully (but lost her changes).

I don't think either of us was in there twice or anything, but we are both super attuned to watching for that now.

Alright, we were just now both logged in normally. She renamed a page. When I went to that page, the content was gone, I couldn't see anything (as if it had been deleted). But she could, on her side. She could see my mouse moving around. We were on zoom at the same moment. I snagged screenshots, if helpful, of each of us looking at the same page.

I'll stop the play-by-play and trying to guess how to help you troubleshoot, but let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

In the meantime, we'll just try to work separately, and use the version release stuff to save and save often.

Hey @Eric_Engelmann , that's more than enough, thanks! I'll go ahead and disable multiplayer on your instance for now. Seems like there's something related to renaming pages. I'll investigate
