Really, really need better documentation with examples - I'm trying to use config variables, but no examples of what to actually put in there.
Need to improve all the docs !

The changelog is purposefully less verbose than the docs. The Get Started link will bring you to a more robust set of documentation here:
needs real world examples - not just the syntax.

Can you describe what you are trying to do? A real-world example example perhaps?
Hi @peter.b, the Changelog is just letting us know we can know access configuration variables on Workflows.
From the doc on configuration variables @pyrrho shared:
Click on your avatar on the top right of the screen:
That will open a dropdown menu, click Settings:
It should open your org settings. You'll find an option for "Configuration variables." Here is where you can create them, by clicking the button on the top right of the page ("Create new"):
You can also specify different values for different environments:
Here is a variable named "example" I created for two environments:
On Workflows, now we can reference that variable:
But keep in mind that, as it's also mentioned on the doc, this feature is not available on Free Retool.
