We expect to have URL support for retool storage in 2 weeks. We won't be supporting fileIds for image grid or any other components not already supported with storage IDs. Thanks for the feedback!
For images, will that still be in base 64 or will you be able to reference the same file type (.png, .jpg, etc.)?
Once we support urls, you'd just need to pass the retool storage file's URL, and we'd support the file formats we currently support on image grid component, or any other image component for that matter. No base64 wrangling required
