Often there are topics/questions that really only have to do with code issues and currently these end up in multiple categories. While this works, I feel like most of the categories are meant for topics/issues dealing with using built-in components, their UI, or customization. I often am looking for these types of posts with programming questions/problems, as they're more up my alley, but finding them requires either a well named topic or clicking every topic and checking what it's about. There are 'javascript' and 'python' optional tags, but I think a programming category where the topics use other categories as additional tags might help people with coding issues get help quicker...... or I'm just lazy and want an extra category lol
Hey @bobthebear! Thanks for surfacing this — totally hear you on wanting an easier way to find specific topics to jump into.
We chatted about it as a team and really appreciated the perspective. It's super helpful to understand how you're navigating the forum and where we can make that experience better. We're mindful of category sprawl, so we’re thinking through a few other ways to improve discoverability first — just to get a better sense of how many of these topics there actually are.
Tagging feels like a good starting point, and it’s something we’ve been wanting to improve anyway. We’re exploring how to:
- Add relevant tags like
javascript
,sql
,python
, etc. more consistently (via automation and template prompts) - Encourage manual tagging when someone creates a new topic
- Make those tags easier to browse or filter
If you're up for it, feel free to tag any posts you come across with something like coding-help
— or the specific language tag. That’d be a huge help in getting a better signal on where support is needed.
From there, we can see what’s working — and if needed, explore other options like pinning a saved search, a “how to get coding help” thread, or even a Q&A-style thread hosted by you (if that’s something you’d be into!).
Also would love to hear more about how you're using the forum — I’ll send over a PM in case you're up for a virtual chat sometime soon.
Cheers!
