Custom domain, public app

  • Goal: Have my purchased domain name from GoDaddy (dripfield.co) redirect automatically to my public app (https://goosedripfield.retool.com/p/app), BUT I want it to be within my domain name (i.e. dripfield.co/p/app). I do not want visitors taken to the auth login page. The app is purely for public consumption, requiring no login.

  • Steps: Adjusted DNS settings in GoDaddy and added custom URL to the account settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As fate would have it, as soon as I posted this thread, it worked just fine... Disregard!

Reopening this.

Inconsistently, I’ll get a 404 error when attempting to access my site through my custom URL. But after a few minutes, it’ll work just fine. Happens on mobile and desktop.

Any ideas why it may do this?

I've got DNS set up with my domain, and Retool appears to be able to communicate with the domain. So I'm not sure what the issue is.

Hey Brian!

I just tried to do a DNS lookup for your domain dripfield.co and got the following response:

❯ nslookup dripfield.co

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:	dripfield.co
Address: 15.197.225.128
Name:	dripfield.co
Address: 3.33.251.168
Name:	dripfield.co
Address: 35.92.202.168
Name:	dripfield.co
Address: 35.92.202.169
Name:	dripfield.co
Address: 35.92.202.170

The first two IP addresses don't seem to be Retool addresses (15.197.225.128 and 3.33.251.168), could you try removing those from your DNS provider?

I “think” I’ve fixed that. I’m still getting random 404 errors with no rhyme or reason. Which is slightly frustrating because I just want the domain name to redirect to the public app - dripfield.co/p/app (or goosedripfield.retool.com/p/app)

How are you setting up the redirect to the Retool app from https://goosedripfield.retool.com/p/app?

When I try to load that above page at the path /p/app, it's trying to resolve the IP 92.112.189.151 which is not a Retool IP.
