Bug: setting "Writing Queries" permission to "Can't create queries" doesn't stick

To reproduce:

  1. Go to Settings > Permissions
  2. Select (or create) a custom user group
  3. In Group Details, set “Writing Queries” to “Can’t create queries”
  4. Save the group settings.
  5. Select any other user group.
  6. Select the custom user group again.

Expected result:
Writing Queries" should still be set to “Can’t create queries”

Actual results:
Writing Queries" is set to “Some Resources”

Hey @charleskoehl — welcome to the Retool forum and thanks for posting!

This is one of those annoying little UI bugs that we haven’t managed to squash yet.

The good news is that it’s just a visual bug — even though the dropdown says “Some resources”, if you scroll through the list, you will see that none are checked off and Retool will prevent users in that group from writing to those resources.

The even better news is that we are in-progress of a permissions overhaul, so this issue will be moot in a few short weeks. Once that work has shipped, the UI will be completely different and this dropdown will no longer exist.

Let us know if there’s anything else that we can help with!

Thanks Alex!
