[URGENT] Retool Database not loading and timing out on all workflows/apps

  • Goal: Access data from Retool Database in queries and workflows

  • Steps: Trying to access data from apps/components/workflows nothing loads. All queries timeout (even when set to max timeout). No errors shown.

  • Details: Unable to access any data or run any queries using retool database. Nothing will load, unable to use any apps that get data from retool database.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear this is happening again.

It looks like your organization has maxed out the allowed connections for Retool Database, which causes the database to subsequently block connections.

Looking at our logs, it looks like there were many Workflows RetoolDB queries today. I highly recommend adjusting your RetoolDB usecase, since it is not designed to be a highly-available, scalable database service and this issue will likely happen again unless you make some changes.

We restarted your database so that you can use it again. Can we try limiting or pausing Workflows that access RetoolDB? Once your data can be accessed again, my suggestion is to solve this by moving at least some of your data to a separate, managed database provider

What's the easiest way we can monitor the number of active connections?

Hi @Aabid_Shamji currently, we don't have a feature for monitoring active connections on your side :disappointed: I agree it would be very helpful to have that transparency though. You can always ask here on the forum, and we are advocating for such a feature internally. It's not something currently on our roadmap, but I hope to have more info on this in the future :crossed_fingers:
