Question I have is, when will this functionality be available in the new beta app development environment ?

Hi There! Tanner from the Retool product team here!

  1. Can you confirm that you are using the new App builder? (there should be a Retool logo and “Beta” in the upper left corner of the window)
  2. Mind sharing more about how you’ve uploaded an .xlsx file? The agent should be able to build with Excel spreadsheets via direct file upload.

I just tested this myself on a cloud instance and was able to successfully drag an .xlsx file into the agent chat box that the agent could build with.

Hi Tanner, yes it is the latest Beta version (with the retool logo and Beta in the upper left corner).

So what I had done was convert my old style retool app to the new beta version. My old style app could pull in excel spreadsheets and was hoping the new beta version would also be able to.

However when I click the button to load the data I get this message “Save the Signio export as CSV or TSV before uploading — native .xlsx parsing isn't available in this sandbox build. We'll auto-detect Signio vs Sereti, preview valid rows + rows with issues, then import in two stages.”

Sorry for the delay in my reply. I’m glad it’s working now.

What I suspect happened is that the conversion partially succeeded and the agent was more successful on the second attempt.

For what its worth, you may have been able to get the first attempt to be successful by prompting the agent.

How are you liking the new App Builder experience?

Hi Tanner, sorry for the delay on my side. Yes I am really enjoying it. I do like the layout too.

One thing I noticed is if I am on production database and switch to staging database it doesn’t actually change… it is still pulling data from production. Is this being fixed now ? When can we expect a fix to be pushed out ?
