Retool Self-hosted Release Notes Interface: Share / PDF not working

#docs #release-notes #changelog bug

Hey Retool Team,

as users of self-hosted Retool, we use this Release Notes / Changelog interface a lot:
Self-hosted Retool Stable releases

We'd love to use the "PDF" and "Share" functionality more, especially because the PDF export seems to give us a much more detailed description of the different changes - but only under certain conditions.

Unfortunately, these buttons, don't work very reliably:

Clicking PDF with the settings

  • Release Version: 3.196.2
  • Compare to Previous Release Version: 3.148.12
only exports a PDF with the ticket numbers, but no title or description at all:

Clicking PDF with the settings

  • Release Version: 3.196.2
  • Compare to Previous Release Version: 3.148.0
exports a PDF with helpful descriptions, but a lot of "undefined" headlines:

Lastly, clicking Share with the settings

  • Release Version: 3.196.1
  • Compare to Previous Release Version: 3.148.5
    generates the following link:
    https://docs.retool.com/releases/stable?channel=stable&latest=3.196.1&previous=3.148.5
But when opening this link, the version numbers in the GET parameters are being ignored.

This makes communication on our side, between Retool editors, dev ops, and managers much harder, when it comes to planning our Retool self-hosted upgrades.

We would love to see improvements to this interface.

Best
Michael

Thanks for the detailed report! I'm seeing the same issues. I'll share this with our docs team for a fix :slightly_smiling_face:

These features should be working now :slightly_smiling_face: Thanks again for the feedback - let us know if you notice any other bugs

Thanks a million @Tess !

For Self-hosted Retool Stable releases | Retool Docs both sharing the link, as well as generating the PDF now works like a charm. This is a huge help! :tada:

When I go to Self-hosted Retool Edge releases | Retool Docs then I cannot select any of the edge release (e.g., 3.234) in the Release Version dropdown. Only the stable releases (like 3.196.*) show up.

I believe this should be fixed now - let me know if you're still unable to access any releases
