Release diffs in "Compare changes" being spammed with Event id updates

  1. My goal: see relevant diffs between releases
  2. Issue: dozens automatic updates to Event id properties are overwhelming the diff view
  3. Steps I've taken to troubleshoot: happens across many of our apps
  4. Additional info: (Cloud or Self-hosted, Screenshots)

I don’t know if this is a one-time thing between releases released between Retool versions or something, but it’s making it annoying to see the actual diffs/changes between new releases. Doesn’t seem to be triggered by the actual underlying changes; seems automatic.

I’ve not seen anything reported on this in the forums yet. I first noticed it yesterday. '

Example:

Hey dguzzo, thanks for the flag.

I can confirm that this is a one-time update to improve event handler behavior. There are two potential problems I want to be sure are not happening:

  • This happens more than once for your any one of your apps.
  • Existing IDs are being replaced.

The second appears to be happening in your screenshotted app. It looks like you’re using source control releases to manage changes on a shared older branch — is that accurate?

Thanks again for posting.

Hi Arnie,

I’m not using source control; we’re on Business Plan, not Enterprise. So no branches are involved.

I thought I witnessed it happening more than once between releases within a single app, but I may be mistaken.

If it’s a one-time thing, that’s ok. I’ll report back if can confirm.

Let us know if you're still seeing this, @dguzzo!

hi Darren! I haven’t been doing much in the way of releases lately, but i suspect we’re all good here and can close the ticket. i’ll report back if for some reason i see otherwise later on.

thanks for following up!
