I'm trying to create multi-line column headers in my Retool table component. I've attempted using \n in the column heading label, but it's not rendering as a line break in the table header - it just shows as plain text.
As shown in my screenshot, the \n appears to work while inspecting but not in the column header itself.
What's the correct way to create line breaks in table column headers in Retool?
Hi @Rishi_Prasad_Aryal ,
You're right that using \n in the column header doesn't render as an actual line break in the table header — it just displays as plain text.
However, there is a way to achieve multi-line column headers! In the Inspector panel, under the Appearance section for your table, there’s an option called “Wrap column header text” . Enabling that should allow the header text to wrap onto multiple lines automatically if it’s long enough — no need to manually add line breaks.
I want it that way no matter the text is long or short.
Is it possible to do that.
I have a complaint that retool customer support team is very slow and they never reply to me on time not at least less than 2 days.
Please improve your customer support.
Unfortunately there is currently no way to pass in a new line character for column headers. The only option is having the wrap feature turned on as @Adnan_Khalil1 described.
It looks like this is currently a feature request. I can add this thread to that ticket as a +1 for you
