- My goal: Display headers properly whilst using tables group by feature
- Issue: If the text in the header is too large, the viewable text does not expand properly for the column that is being used for the group by.
- Steps I've taken to troubleshoot: Checked between our theme and the default theme in Retool and the issue is present on both
- Additional info:
I think we've run into something like this as well. That is, the group-by column data is only as wide as the actual column itself, even tho the group-by header is the width of the table-component. The header cell could be 100% of the width, even tho the supporting column in the detail is only, say, 20% of the width.
Probably better to demonstrate visually:
The instructor "fullname" is wrapping in the group-by header, even tho it doesn't need to. The group-by column width doesn't need to be tied to the detail-column width.
You might want to try adjusting the Table component's appearance under the Advanced options—that could help.
Hi @WidleStudioLLP , This doesn't resolve my issue, though it may resolve @trillich 's. My issue is that the height of the header of the column that is being used to make a group by is not being expanded properly. That setting only affects the width of headers.
Apologies for the confusion earlier—there was a misunderstanding on my part while reviewing the issue. Upon closer inspection, it does appear to be a legitimate bug or possibly a glitch related to the current version of Retool.
Hey @Daniel_Fleuranvil Thanks for flagging this issue. I am seeing the same behavior. I'm not sure what the timeline will be, but I'll report this to our team for a fix.
Thanks for chiming in, @WidleStudioLLP. I also thought that was maybe the issue at first
@trillich I haven't been able to reproduce this yet what is the font & font size you're using? If you can share an app export, that would be helpful too
This is working for me now
