Embed workflows platform

hi all! don´t know if this is the correct place to post my question (it was either here or feature request) but here goes.

i work for a company that manages a web application. we have in our product roadmap to bring workflows and automation as a new feature and are exploring what the best approach would be.

we have used retool workflows for all types of different use cases and really love how reliable and flexible the tool is. we were wondering if it would be possible to use the retool workflow platform in an external app (embedded?) so that only some selected resources would be available. the user would have the possibility to link together many processes and create custom rules with in our external application that would otherwise pass through the development of settings or custom code.

Hey @ricardoguerreiro - welcome back to the forum! :slightly_smiling_face:

I'm glad to hear that you and your team are so excited about workflows. The particular use case you're describing is a unique one! It's technically possible to embed the Retool IDE within an iframe, but I don't believe there's any way to remove the navigation elements from the page. This means that end users wouldn't be sandboxed to just the workflows editor.

You would, however, be able to restrict their access to certain resources. Both the Business and Enterprise plans come with a granular permissions system for all authorized users.

I think the reality is that, while intriguing, this isn't a use case that the platform is ready for. We're starting to explore different ways to programmatically create Retool resources - like workflows - and your idea would certainly be more achievable when that plan becomes a reality.

I'll pass your feedback on to the team and let you know if I have any additional thoughts on the subject!
