I want my splitPanel to be hidden by default. However, my split Panel doesn't auto-hide upon loading. In fact the state says hidden=false, when in actuality it's hidden=true!!! I've tried all sorts of weird things, nothing has worked. Office Hours suggested filing a bug.

Actually, do you mind sending your app JSON to ibork@retool.com? I wasn't able to recreate this bug locally.
You should be able to see the fix sometime next week!
