App not showing recent changes

Hi Darren,

We're building an app on self-hosted. Four of us would be on it but no multi-player. Oh well, we'll survive, maybe later.
BUT...

  • Even ONE dev at a time
  • Even ONE and only one tab open
  • In ONE and only one browser
    I've lost work

Today I made a table column editable, change it's style, added a query to save changes that forwards the stringified changesetArray to a new db stored procedure, connected it to the table's Save action handler, and TESTED it. I then returned to the app list... and when I returned, all my work was gone. The app list claims it was last changed "3 days ago"

Our IT director has seen enough ineffiency and loss of work that he is spooked. (And it's pretty disheartening to lose a morning of work.)

I've been scouring the community posts and was able to get back my morning's work that disappeared without a trace. It's ugly, but it worked...

  1. Closed retool tab
  2. Opened the browser history page
  3. Found the last reference to that page in Retool this morning
  4. Reopened the tab - everything was there
  5. Exported the app to json
  6. Returned to the app list (the date was still 3 days old)
  7. Opened the app to verify and it was the 3 day old app.
  8. Created new app from json
  9. Verified new app had everything I did this morning.
  10. Not cool but I saved my morning.

Again, I only have one and only one tab open (edge)

Hey everyone who read my last couple posts! We found the problem and it is me. I was spooked as you might have been having read my last two calls for help. It turns out, that when I went into the app to work on it yesterday morning, I had actually gone into a different app by the exact same name--the copy I trashed the Friday before after I created a clean copy. Instead of working on the clean copy, I, not realizing I was looking at the trash directory, chose the app and did my work. When I closed it and came back to home, the one in "All" said last change 3-days ago. If I had gone to trash I would have found the copy of the same name that I inadvertently worked on.

Retool did not mess me up. I suggested they disable editing apps in trash. (Why not?) and maybe make it's heading louder?
