Adding component to expandable rows bug

I'm attempting to add a table to the expandable row and it will only add the component outside of the table. This seems to happen with any component that I select.

Image below: Adding component to expandable row - In this instance selected table

Image below: Table is created below the table instead of within the expandable row

I've had this work before, so unclear what has changed.

Hi @KeanF, to add components to expandable rows you need to add them to the first table row. So first step is to make sure that you're trying to add new components in the first table row.

Have you tried to drag and drop into the expandable row instead of adding them directly in the "Add components" button?

Hey @Almopt ,

I am definitely adding to the first row, if you open another row it will inform you that you can't edit things there:

I did attempt to drag components into the expanded row, but when I start dragging the expanded row will close, so I can't drop them in there.
Do you see a different behaviour?

That's weird, have you try to delete and add the table component again?

Yeah have deleted and retried many times, also have attempted this in multiple apps (even ones where I am already using tables with expanded rows) and the behaviour is replicated everywhere

This seems to be a bug—I'll take a look at this now!

A current workaround is: (I believe) you can still drag a text element inside the expandable row in table 1. If you enable expandable rows for table 1, drag a text element inside, create table2, copy table2, select the text element inside table1's expandable row, and then paste it, it should work.

Yep, running into the same issue here. I tried the workaround suggested, but that didn't seem to work either.

Had the same issue for the past 2 days - definitely a bug. Please help fix asap! The workaround does not work either for me. Thanks

+1 I'm having the same issue.

I wasn't able to get the suggested workaround to work - Only workaround I could find is to copy and pasting tables that were built previously with expanded rows and modifying those

If that doesn’t work, isn’t it possible to swap a component by right clicking it and then select a table component? Not sure if that’s an options at all. Thought it might help. Perhaps this only adds a new component and then it’s not possible since you can only have one component in the expendable row right?

  • 1 Issue started happening last week. I was able to create a table without issues but when replicating in second app this happened.

Sorry about this everyone! I believe a fix should be coming out tomorrow; I will update in this thread when that happens (and yes, I don't think the workaround works unfortunately—the only way is to copy + paste from an existing table with expandable rows :frowning: )

Alright, this should be working now—please feel free to post if there are still any issues!

It's all about timing - I was about to reply issue still exists in Cloud 3.112.0, refreshed a last time and it's working... in now 3.113.
Thanks Retool support for the quick turnaround.
