- What you built and what it does
- A screenshot or a recording (30 seconds or less)

Agreement to these Terms
The Built with Retool Challenge (the "Challenge") is sponsored by Retool, Inc., located at 1550 Bryant Street, San Francisco, CA 94103 ("Retool"). By participating in the Challenge, you accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules ("Terms") and by the decisions of Retool, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Challenge. Do not participate in the Challenge if you do not agree to these Terms.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A purchase or paid Retool subscription will not improve your chances of winning.
This Challenge is not sponsored by, endorsed by, administered by, or associated with Reddit, Inc.
What is the Challenge?
Retool invites eligible individuals to share an application they have built using Retool’s new App Builder (an "Application") by posting about it on the r/Retool subreddit for evaluation by a panel of Retool judges. Judges will select three (3) winners, who will each receive the Prize described below.
Challenge Timeline
- Entry Period: From 9:00 AM Pacific Time on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 until 11:59 PM Pacific Time on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
- Judging Period: Approximately three (3) business days following the end of the Entry Period.
- Winner Announcement Date: On or around Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Retool is the official timekeeper for the Challenge.
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the Challenge, you must:
- Be at least the age of majority in the jurisdiction where you reside; and
- Have a Reddit account in good standing that was created prior to the start of the Entry Period.
You are not eligible to participate in the Challenge if:
- You are an employee, contractor, director, or officer of Retool or its affiliates, or you are an immediate family member or household member of any of these individuals; or
- You are a resident or organization located in countries or regions designated by the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) or where participation is prohibited or restricted.

How to Enter
During the Entry Period, publish a standalone post on the r/Retool subreddit. Your post must include all of the following:
- What you built: a short description of the Application and what it does.
- A screenshot or a screen recording of thirty (30) seconds or less showing the Application.
- The prompt or approach you used: at least one prompt, or a description of how you built it.
You may optionally include a link to the Application if you are able to share one.
Each qualifying post is considered one "Entry." You may submit as many Entries as you wish, but you may only be selected as a winner once.
Applications built before the start of the Entry Period are eligible, provided the post itself is published during the Entry Period.
All Entries must comply with the rules of the r/Retool subreddit and with Reddit's Content Policy and User Agreement. Entries that are deleted, removed, or made private before the end of the Judging Period may be disqualified.
Use of any robotic, automatic, programmed, or similar entry method, or the use of multiple Reddit accounts by a single person, will void all affected Entries and may result in disqualification.
Judging and Selection of Winners
During the Judging Period, we’ll pick three (3) winners based on upvotes, discussion, and what we found most compelling.
All decisions of the judges are binding and final. Retool reserves the right to disqualify any Entry that violates these Terms or that is unlawful, offensive, obscene, or for any reason as determined in Retool's sole discretion.
Notification of Winners
Potential winners will be notified by Reddit Private Message and must respond with the requested information within 72 hours of the date notice is sent. Failure to respond within the applicable time period may, in Retool’s sole discretion, result in forfeiture of prize. In the event of a forfeiture, Retool may award the prize to an alternate entry or declare no winner. The return of any prize notification or prize as undeliverable may result in disqualification.
Prizes
Each of the three (3) winners will receive one (1) gift card with a value of one hundred United States dollars (USD $100). Winners may select their gift card from a list of options provided by Retool at the time of notification. Where a selected option is unavailable in a winner's country of residence, Retool will provide a gift card or equivalent of comparable value at its sole discretion.
Total approximate retail value of all Prizes: USD $300. Limit one (1) Prize per person. No substitution or transfer of prize permitted by winner.
Ownership and License
You retain all ownership rights in your Application and in the content of your Entry.
By entering the Challenge, you grant Retool a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid, sublicensable license to reproduce, distribute, display, adapt, and excerpt your Entry — including the text of your post, any screenshots or recordings, any prompts you shared, and your Reddit username — in connection with the Challenge and in Retool's marketing and promotional materials, in any media now known or later developed.
You represent that your Entry is your own original work, that you have the right to grant this license, and that your Entry does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party or disclose confidential information belonging to your employer or any other party.
Publicity
By participating in the Challenge, you consent to the promotion and display of your Application and Entry, and to the use of your Reddit username and any other personal information you provide for promotional purposes, by Retool and by third parties acting on its behalf, without further notice, compensation, or approval, except where prohibited by law.
Personal Information
You consent to Retool's collection and use of your personal information in accordance with Retool's Privacy Policy. Retool will use your Reddit username and the information in your Entry to administer the Challenge.
Retool's Reservation of Rights
Retool may modify, suspend, or cancel the Challenge for any reason, including but not limited to, the event of a technical failure or any other factor or event that was not anticipated or is not within Retool's control.
Retool may modify these Terms. If Retool intends to make material changes, Retool will post notice of the changes at community.retool.com and in the official Challenge post on r/Retool reasonably in advance of the changes going into effect. Continued participation after any modifications signifies your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Disclaimers; Limitation of Liability
THE CHALLENGE AND ALL PRIZES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Retool is not responsible for (i) late, lost, delayed, incomplete, misdirected, or undeliverable Entries, responses, or other correspondence, whether by Reddit direct message, email, or otherwise; (ii) theft, destruction, or unauthorized access to or alteration of Entries; (iii) electrical, network, computer, hardware, software program, or transmission malfunctions, failures, or difficulties; or (iv) any act or omission of Reddit, Inc., including the removal, restriction, or unavailability of any post, account, or subreddit.
IN NO EVENT WILL RETOOL BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF USE, DATA, BUSINESS, OR PROFITS) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE CHALLENGE OR THE ACCEPTANCE, USE, OR MISUSE OF ANY PRIZE, WHETHER SUCH LIABILITY ARISES FROM ANY CLAIM BASED UPON CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, AND WHETHER OR NOT RETOOL HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH LOSS OR DAMAGE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, RETOOL'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU ARISING WITH RESPECT TO THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED USD $25.00.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the law of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law provisions. The courts located in San Francisco County, California will have exclusive jurisdiction to adjudicate any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or their formation, interpretation, or enforcement. Each party hereby consents and submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of such courts.
