Questions on Self-hosted AI Assist

  1. My goal: To use AI Assist

  2. Issue: Getting an error when I try to use AI Assist

  3. Retool version & hosting setup (Docker, K8s, cloud provider, etc.): 3.300.9, docker

  4. Error message(s) or screenshots:

  5. What I’ve tried so far: I have tried adding my own OpenAI and Anthropic keys.

Trying to get AI Assist to work in my self-hosted instance (currently getting the above error). I have a few questions:

  1. Is it possible to use my own OpenAI/Anthropic keys on the teams plan? I added my own keys and am getting the above error, not sure what I’m doing wrong there.

  2. Does assist have access to the data that is actually displayed in retool, or just the structure of the page? This matters for me because our data includes PHI and thus if assist does come into contact with that data, we may not be able to use retool-provided keys.

Hello there, Ben! Been a while, good to see you here again! @fortuni

Here are the answers to your questions!

  1. Bring your own key is currently available on the Enterprise plan only. Would that be a plan you are open to exploring?
  2. Regarding your question about PHI compliance, this doc should help answer it. Managing security with Assist | Retool Docs Let me know if you have any other questions! :folded_hands:

Are you saying Enterprise + Your own key is the only possibility for Self-hosted?
