PDF Component missing height controls when in a stack

I am trying to get the pdf to take up the full height of the stack container but there is only Width options.

Thanks

Hey @OLR ,

I understand your issue you have to enable the option in stack container "Expand content to fit" :

Thanks for the idea, I am trying to have these side-by-side main containers fill to the same height. Which works when they are both stacks, inside a larger stack. They both gain the option to use height fill.

but the PDF component inside does not gain the ability to fill height only width.

I want the PDF to be the same height as the container. Which it will be if I set expand content to fit, but then the main container loses the height fill option and must be fixed.

Hi @OLR,

I think you may need to set padding and margin to None for the stack component!

Let me know if that works for you :crossed_fingers:

Hi @OLR,

Just wanted to check in and see if my suggestion was helpful for resizing the PDF component the way you wanted!

@Jack_T

Thanks for checking in - I still have not found a solution.

Not all, but the majority of components when in a stack get width and height controls with an option to fill , example the IMG component.

The PDF still only has the option to fill width wise.

I tried putting it inside a container then expanding content to fit but then the container loses the option to height fill.

The height fill with a stack container is the only way I have been able to use components that will fit on 4k, 1440, and 1920 to take advantage of the higher resolutions, otherwise everything is just shrunk down.

Is it possible to add the fill height control to the pdf? I notice the new comment thread is also missing that height fill.

Thanks

Hi @OLR,

Thank you for the additional details and the screen shots, those help a ton.

I just filed a feature request for this! Will keep you updated on any news I hear on it.

@Jack_T

Great thank you.

This is currently making the PDF component very frustrating to work with as on 1440 you can barely see the PDF.

1920x1080

2550x1440

The main container with the footer scales to the screen but the PDF is stuck at a fixed pixel size.

Please let me know if there are any work arounds or updates!

I'm also experiencing this issue. Stacks have generally been a massive blessing but for this PDF component it just doesn't seem possible to get the "fill" behavior vertically in a stack.

To OLR's point, I'm generally pretty good at containers and have done some complex setups but I cannot come up with any combination of settings to get the expected behavior from stacks with the PDF component vertically filling height.

Thanks for the info @richschaeffer!

I can add your +1 to the ticket and will update this thread with any news I hear on it.

I agree it is odd that the resizing of PDFs inside of stacks doesn't work as expected and needs to be fixed to achieve parity with the other components.

I will share you screen shot as well on the ticket for the engineers to take a look at!

To ya'lls credit, this is the only issue I've had so far with stacks. They work phenomenally well for me and are a huge breakthrough for Retool, in my humble opinion.

Just encountered the same problem. You can add +1 from my side too. A fix would be much appreciated.

Apologies for the issue @django, yes I can add that +1 right now :+1:
