Mobile App Camera

Hello retool forum,

I was messing around with a mobile app and saw the image input component which is super cool, but is there a way to leverage the phones flash from there?

Ideally I would like to be able to turn the flash on and off or at least have it flash when I take a picture.

Is this possible in any way that I am missing?

Or would the workaround just be to take the image with the native camera app on the phone and then upload that file?

Hello @James_Tuxbury,

Currently, the Image Input component on the Retool Mobile app doesn't support controlling the phone's flash, such as turning it on/off or triggering a flash when taking a picture.

A simple workaround is to use the phone's native camera app, which provides full flash control, and then upload the image using the Image Input component in Retool. This ensures that you can use all the native camera features, including flash settings.

It would be great to have the option to control the flash directly within the Image Input component, as this would enhance its functionality on Retool Mobile.

You might also consider posting this as a feature request in the Retool Community to gauge interest and potentially get this feature added in future updates.
