I want Help Understanding How to Connect My App Data with Retool

Hey All,

I am still figuring things out I am trying to set up a project where I can pull data from my app database & display it in a clean interface inside Retool I have seen that Retool offers different resources & query options but honestly I am not sure what is the best way to get started.

Right now my main confusion is around how to properly structure queries so they are easy to manage and do not break when scaling the app I want to know if there are some common mistakes that beginners such as me should avoid For context I am learning through a Ruby On Rails course & I am trying to connect the concepts I learned there with what I can build here in Retool.

If anyone has any guidance it would be super helpful.

Thank you.

Hi @Morganya, and welcome to the forum!

Have you checked out Retool's university? It has great content and definitely best practices on how to build out apps, queries and in general data flow so you can scale.

If you're looking into something more concrete, it would be great if you can share a bit more about where your data lives, complexity of it and amount of data you'd expect to show in Retool's Apps.
