Replying to myself to go as far as to say:
I'd wish that when a new component is added to the canvas, it's name / id field gets focused so I can type it's name without having to start editing it myself

I broke this out into a separate topic just to track it a bit better, @khill-fbmc. 
This is a great idea not just for saving you a few clicks, but for reinforcing a best practice that app developers should honestly do more consistently.
