I was just poking around the debug tools and saw my app hit Page Size: 305 / App Size: 656. It’s still running smooth, but it got me curious... at what point do we start calling an app "heavy"?
I’d love to do a quick sanity check with the community:
Show me your numbers: What’s the size of your biggest production app?
The "Lag" Threshold: When do you actually start feeling the slowdown in the editor?
Your #1 tip: If you had to delete one thing to save performance, what goes first?
And most importantly: What’s the absolute "monster" app size you’ve reached before it finally became unmanageable? I'm curious to see some record-breaking (or app-breaking) numbers!
This is a CRM/Business App built on top of our companies Netsuite instance.
Currently is
Page Size: 236
App Size: 649
I find the biggest performance issues are UI. I’ve built the app to be fully compatible for both Desktop and Mobile, since i did not want to maintain two separate apps (even though i do like retool mobile.)
I wish UI customization was easier without CSS hacking. I also think the standard elements when having data loaded/resized could be a bit cleaner/snappier. I have tried mutliple ways to allow all data to load before making ui elements visible, etc. But nothing really seems crisp. Im all ears though!
The app does have plans for much much more though, this is just the beginning! We will see how Retool holds up! In the end, it will be around 200-250 internal users, and maybe 50 external users.
