What replaced the custom components?

What replaced the custom components? These things were great! Is there something comparable that replaced it? This component allowed me to write custom React code and pass in data to the component. Then, I was able to format the component exactly how I wanted it. I don't know why anyone would replace this.

Yes, I could press the "Upgrade" button, but if there was any problem, I don't know if it would let me go back, so I don't want to ruin what I've got. In fact, I don't really want to change this module at all, but I do want to know what replaced it, so I can use it in a new app I'm working on.

Custom Component Libraries (they're friggin amazing btw)

Thanks for the reply, but gotta be honest, don't love the answer. It took me a month to figure out how to use the legacy custom components, and now that rug is ripped out from underneath me.

Anyhow, now trying to follow the instructions there, and getting this error. I have no idea how to resolve this. Thoughts?

Looks like you're trying to run commands inside of the Node.js runtime, instead of a shell terminal like bash, zsh, powershell, cmd, etc.

Hard to tell which IDE you're using from the screenshot, but I would look for a "New Terminal" option in your editor and try the git clone command again from there

I don't have an IDE. I would probably use a Vim editor to edit the source files. But, I can't seem to get that far.

I was just trying to figure out what I need from the instructions here: Build custom component libraries | Retool Docs, but all they said was:

#1 - Get node.js
#2 - Have admin privileges

In a command prompt, it does this:

In Powershell, it does this:

Well, unfortunately, that didn't work either. Any additional thoughts?

First, you'll want to download and install the CLI for version control called Git!

Download Git

This will let you run that "git clone" command in powershell or cmd.

I believe you should be able to keep following the rest of the steps in the docs from there :+1:

Ok. Thanks. I'm moving along now.

Glad to hear it, @nl-setech! The new Custom Component Library takes a little more to set up but is super powerful. Continue to let us know if you have any questions. :+1:
