SMTP email "Add Reply-To " triggers even if not selected, if it's populated

  • Goal: Send email via SMTP via Google (not Retool email).

  • Steps: I had some emails go out that looked fine, but when the recipient replied, it came to me instead of the sender I had specified. I had previously put my email in the "Add Reply-To" field of the SMTP resource. But later, I had unchecked the "Add Reply-To" checkbox. So it seems that the checkbox was ignored, and it modified the reply-to to that value, even so.

I think it should ignore any value in that field if the checkbox is not checked.

To fix it, I went into the text field and removed my email from the reply-to (even with the reply-to unchecked) and that fixed the problem, but thought I'd report the issue.

I was able to reproduce this pretty easily in testing, happy to share more info if helpful.

I'm on cloud retool, if it matters.

by the way: I keep thinking I'll find something retool can't do, and ultimately find a way to do it! Kudos to you all for building such a great product!

Hello @Eric_Engelmann,

Apologies for the issue! I just tested this out and can confirm the bug. Even after unchecking the 'reply-to' box, it still appeared in the gmail I sent.

Let me send this bug report to our engineer team and I will keep you updated on any news I hear from them :+1:

Great to hear you are enjoying the product! We love constructive feedback on what we can do to improve it for developers like you
