Hi @d4v3c00k Thanks for reaching out! We have a bug where the table events don't work if the table is hidden 
This includes the setFilter apis
There's been quite a few requests for this functionality, so I'm hoping we can prioritize a fix soon 
I don't have an eta yet, but I'll reach out here when the fix ships
